This morning! OMG 😳 a lot of weather! As I started this morning it was raining and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to get out this very small village. I must have made about three wrong turns. Eventually I found the way and finally I was off! 🤣
About 3K from Teradillos I walked with two pilgrims bless them they we all hunkered down like me and as we walked we started dancing and sing 🎶 I’m walking in the rain 🌧️ laughing and holding our poles in the air like umbrellas! We had no idea what kind of weather lay ahead of us. I had to take my glasses off because I couldn’t see a thing! 🤦♀️🤣
At the official and spiritual half way point! I found this moment very profound and emotional 🙏 I sat for 5 minutes in the rain! Reflecting on how far I had come.
It was a very soggy tromp into Sahagún and the young man in Sahagún tourist office was very helpful giving me tissues to wipe my glasses! I meandered through the streets towards the church of Santuario de la Virgen Peregrina, where I collected my half way certificate.
What an absolutely shite afternoon for walking! Driving rain 🌧️ and strong wind 💨 all afternoon on the Camino! It did not desist, in fact the wind and rain got worse, I would say it was biblical! I was sodden from hips right down to my toes. My shoes were like paddling pools. I as I slopped my way along the path with my head hunkered down I kept imagining I was walking along a warm beach with the warm surf lapping my feet as I trudged the 10K towards Bercianos on what would have been a lovely walk, but it was horrible, miserable and that bloody road went on forever! Oh
I’m going to have to think my wet weather gear! Me thinks a visit to decathlon in Leon tomorrow afternoon is needed. My shoes and everything else is sodden but I’ve managed to dry most of my clothes and I keep thanking the sweet lord that I have 2 pairs of shoes (thank you so much Debs!!!) 👟
I’m settled in my albergue having a drink or two before dinner 🥘 I’m still telling my feet they are on that beach and we’re at the cocktail bar now!🤣! Thank you all for all your encouragement and support my lovelies. 😘 TTFN 😘
Buen Camino 😘
